Easter

I'm a few days late but it's never too late to late to publicly declare our deep and humble thankfulness for our Saviour's atoning death on the cross - the One who paid my debt.  After a wonderful time of worship and celebrating with our church family, the eldest son and his beautiful family were able to spend the afternoon with us.  Fun times!!!

Here are the handsome Humphrey men (13 and under, that is.)
It's impossible to get a good picture of all 3 of them looking at the camera with real smiles....
 but we keep trying......

Drew, Elizabeth, Brenna and Felicia

 Two cuties!
 Blowing bubbles....
 more bubbles...

 Swatting bubbles....

And meanwhile, Ian drove up and down the driveway and down and up the driveway, forwards and backwards.  He is getting very good at driving and is SOOOOO happy to have this chair (that's another blog post coming soon.)

Happy Anniversary!

Five years ago today, we got to witness a beautiful, God-honoring ceremony uniting our oldest son to the wonderful woman God had designed for him.  So thankful for both of them and the exciting ways God is growing their marriage, their family and their ministry.

Happy Anniversary, Drew and Elizabeth!!!
We love you!!

Snow Day!

We had a beautiful snowfall on Tuesday afternoon and all through the night.....
the kind that piles up on the branches and makes the world a winter wonderland.
The kids were out of school so of course we had to take advantage of what I hope is the last significant snow!
Two years ago, Uncle Brian gave the boys a snowman kit and this is the first time we've had enough snow to make a great snowman!
Sadly, due to some very poor choices, Lucas spent most of his time outside right here....
but, he actually didn't seem to mind (which kind of defeats the whole choices/consequences thing but that's a different story!)
Ian was just happy to drive his power chair up and down the driveway.  While we were busy with the snowman, we heard him squeal with delight and he was in the middle of the road!  Had to have a chat about boundaries, which is something new for all of us!  I've never had to worry about Ian getting in the road.  :-)

 The infectious smile....
He did, however, want to be moved so he could watch the sledding and we piled up snow so he could play in it.  I still couldn't get him to agree to get on the sled with me.
 Jeremy, sledding down the hill....
 This kid loves to pose!
Not such a great picture due to taking it through the window but I have this thing about cardinals in the winter, especially against the snow.  They brighten our world and are so beautiful!

Boys' Weekend and a trip to Memphis

Since this Grammy has been missing Miss O so badly and since we actually had a free weekend, Pops gave me the blessing and go-ahead to plan a quick trip to Memphis!  (He's the BEST!!!!)  We were worried about how the boys would take it but by the time he got done telling them that I was leaving, they were ready for me to be gone so they could start their BOYS' WEEKEND!
Olivia was sick with a stomach bug, off and on, all weekend and was kind enough to share it with her mommy, but we still had lots of cuddle time, craft time and just fun play time. She is such a sweetheart and when she cried to go home with me, I thought I would die.  Thanks for playing with Grammy, Olivia!  I love and miss you!!!!  (And thanks, Mommy and Daddy for letting me come on such late notice!)

Grandchildren are such a blessing and joy!!!!!!!!!

The BIG Day!!!!

Ian's power chair has been at our therapist's clinic for 3 weeks and he's been learning to drive it.  He still has a long way to go (it's a powerful chair with 2 motors and 4 drives) but we got to bring it home today!!!  Before coming home, we stopped at our church multi-purpose room for a practice run.  We were there for almost 3 hours and Ian got progressively better at learning to maneuver during that time.  He is one excited young man!!!  The independence that this will give him is not even explainable.  Research shows that independence mobility is necessary for social and cognitive learning, so we are excited to see how having his own wheels will change life for all of us (not that Ian could be any more social than he already is!)

And because this chair weighs more than 200 lb, we have to have a way to transport it.  Thus, the new ('03) bus!
The lift folds up on itself to allow for passenger entry.
Here is the lift as it unfolds.  There are tie downs on all 4 corners as well as a shoulder harness to keep him safe.  (The restraint expert/Dad made sure of that!)
And here is Ian, ready to go!
I'll try to post videos soon!
