Ethan Grey Roberson

We are so excited to announce the birth of our grandson; Ethan Grey Roberson!  Thanks to Drew and Elizabeth, who are in Indiana with our 3 youngest boys, we headed to Memphis at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday night so we could get here before Troy and Lindsay left for the induction scheduled for Thursday morning.  We got to hang out with Olivia all day long, playing with dolls and princesses and squirt guns and anxiously waiting for news.  Progress was slow so we decided to take Olivia to get some dinner and hoped we'd hear something soon.  We did!  Lindsay called as we were ordering and said we might want to come to the hospital after we ate.  We inhaled our food and got a text that Ethan had arrived!  So, we finished up and got to the hospital as fast as we could!

Graduation Day!!!!

Today was an awesome day as we headed to Louisville to witness Drew's graduation from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary!

We are so thankful to our great God for the opportunity to be with Drew and Elizabeth and the girls today and celebrate such a momentous and much anticipated occasion!  We are sooooooo blessed and pretty proud of them!!!

Since Drew and Elizabeth recently moved, I've been blessed to have their girls a tad bit more than normal.  Here are a few pictures of some of our fun times:

We really do have some girl toys around here but it seems like they always end up playing with the cars and trucks.  Jeremy is a great babysitter!

On a different day, I took the girls to a certain blueberry farm to see and smell the gorgeous blooms.

From the looks of these bushes, there are going to be lots of yummy blueberries this summer!

First Grade Mother's Day Tea

I was honored to be invited to attend the Cole Elementary First Grade Mother's Day Tea today.  The first graders worked hard to make beautiful hats for their moms, clay tea cups as gifts and had a delightful program that they shared with us, followed by "freshments" (as Lucas called it.)  Each child told why they love their mom.  (Lucas said that I am sweet as pie and bake good stuff. Do you think the way to this kid's heart is through his stomach?)  Lucas has been so excited for weeks and has been singing the M-O-T-H-E-R song all week with great gusto and expression but you wouldn't know it today.  He was pretty terrified but did a good job anyway!

POD

I don't even know where to begin with this one!  Almost 4 years ago, our church launched a new ministry opportunity to college students, where 3 or 4 students were matched with an older person for Bible study, accountability, Scripture memory and prayer.  At the time, Ian had been home for only a few months and I had a steep learning curve with his CP, therapies of all kinds, school evals and meetings, doctor appointments, etc.  So, Tom thought it would be good for me to take on a POD for a "change of scenery" and of course, I was very excited to participate.  I was matched with these 3 lovely ladies who were freshmen at the time and a junior, also.  We began meeting once a week in Feb, 2010 and we've been together ever since.  (The junior graduated and moved on and we were joined by another gal.)  We've studied James, Galatians, 1 Thes, the Gospel, Prayer, the Church, etc.  But mostly, we have become very good friends, sisters in Christ and prayer warriors for each other.  I would adopt them all if their parents would let me (oh, and the fact that they are 22 might prevent an adoption!)  They have been with me through 3 challenging adoptions, 4 grandchildren (yes, they have to hear about the grandchildren on a very regular basis!) and all kinds of other stuff.  They have challenged me by their love for Jesus, their passion for the Gospel and their burden for friends and family members.  They have provided child care for us, helped around our house and just generally put up with me for almost 4 years.  Our boys affectionately know them as the "POD girls" and are thrilled to see them at church or our home.  (Ian is in love with all of them!)  They are all graduating in 2 weeks and thankfully, two will be around for another year but we won't be meeting on a regular basis and one will be moving.  So, we had a farewell dinner last night and tried not to cry.  We know we will always, always be friends and will share a very special bond.  I am so very thankful for each of them and the opportunity to be a small part of their lives at Purdue.  God has grown us all in wonderful and challenging ways and we pray He will continue to do so, knowing He isn't finished with us yet!
