It's Back!!!

Due to Ian's surgery coupled with the fact that he was getting "saddle sores," the Pony had to go back to the stable for some adjustments and also to avoid the frustration of seeing it all the time and not being able to use it. After several different attempts, our wonderful therapists let us bring it home again and Ian was thrilled! Not only that, but they let us have a chair that is just his size and supports him for eating, playing, school, and is much more appropriate than his current wheelchair. (We are still waiting on his custom wheelchair - long, long, very frustrating story!)

This chair allows him to be much closer to the floor and thus, to Jack and I'm not sure which one was most happy about that.

Ian eating crackers, apples and string cheese completely by himself! (We have to do this while Dad is gone because he just can't stand the mess......yet.) Anything that allows Ian to feel more independent is incredibly important to him! We take so much for granted.

This is an older picture of the Pony but the kid has something about opening and shutting drawers! He'll do it as long as I let him.

More Fun Family Visits

Tom, Ian and I got to attend church with Lindsay and Troy yesterday (which is always a joy) and Ian got to meet some of their good friends who have been praying for him for a long time. After lunch, we had to stop by their house for awhile so Ian could play with the dogs. He absolutely loves them! They crawl all over him and lick his face and sit in his lap and he loves every minute! (Sorry for the picture repeat if you also read Lindsay's blog. :-) I'm not sure about Ian, but in my world, the grandogs have about 8 more weeks of being the center of attention and after that, they fall way down on the priority list!!!!

New Specs!

Ian went to an eye doctor a couple weeks ago and he prescribed glasses for him. I'm not convinced that they are going to help all of his eye issues, but it's worth a shot. He thinks they are pretty cool because they are just like Dad's. It will be interesting to see if they help his vision enough that he wants to wear them. I couldn't decide which picture to post, so you get all 3!

Another Road Trip

Ian has been wanting to visit his Louisville siblings so we headed south early Saturday morning. We had a great time (although always too short) and Ian especially loved their furniture. First the big, comfy round chair but then, he discovered the spinning chair, thanks to big brother Drew. As you can see, he had a blast!

Beautiful Morning!

I've always had this thing about frost and can't help but snap some pictures of it. This morning was absolutely beautiful so Jack and I went outside before Ian got up.

More exciting "independence"

Ian has a new "toy" that allows him some access to the computer and he is obsessed! He wants to use it all the time. There are great online sites that have "books" (complete with sound effects) that he can watch and "turn the pages" by clicking his button. We can also practice targeting and scanning on a different site. It's nice to have something else to do while we are stuck inside (besides videos of trucks, diggers and planes which he never tires of but his mother does!)

First Date

33 years ago today, I went on a date with this handsome guy:

I was a lowly high school junior and he was a big time college freshman! I hardly remember anything from my past but I can tell you what we each were wearing (down to the giant comb in his back pocket) and where we went (high school basketball game and then, Pizza Hut, where we talked for hours) and what we talked about (his past girlfriends). If anyone had told us back then where God would have us 33 years later, we would have told them they were crazy!

But, what an awesome journey it's been and Lord willing, we have so much more ahead!

This is 2 1/2 years later, the day after he proposed. Sure glad I said "yes"!!!!
